Six years ago I was working a corporate 9-5 I didn't love, pregnant with my second child, watching my little boy start school without me.
I didn't quit everything overnight. I started building alongside my existing commitments, in pockets of time, around real life. No boss telling me when to work. No office to commute to. Just me, building something that was mine.
What I loved from the start wasn't just the travel - it was the future I could see. A life where no one else owned my time.
Fast forward to today and I've personally introduced and supported hundreds of people into the travel industry. Some do it alongside their jobs. Some have made it their main income. All of them started exactly where you are now.
I'm the founder of The Freedom Travel Co - a community of independent travel agents building their businesses together.

What travel elements can you book?
Anything and everything that has a travel element attached to it, you can book. You will have access to multi million pound platforms that allow you to book everything from concert tickets, car hire, package holidays, days out at theme parks, hotels, excursions, villas, cruises, safari's, sports tickets, activities and so much more!

Here's something most people don't know.
Every time someone books a holiday - whether through a big website, a travel brand, or a phone call, commission is built into that price. It goes to someone. As an independent travel agent, that someone can be you.
No retail shop. No long qualification. No minimum experience.

I operate under one of the UK's leading host agencies, ABTA and ATOL protected, with access to over 120 preferred travel suppliers. They provide the platform. You build the business.

I’m Holly, a 40 year old mum of two children and three dogs, and run a small property PR agency with my business partner so life can be super busy. A few years ago, during the pandemic when we all had more time on our hands, I decided I wanted to try something new. I’ve always love to travel and everything about searching for that perfect holiday so when I saw an Instagram post about becoming an independent travel agent a couple of years ago it was kind of a lightbulb moment. Fast forward to now and I can honestly say I absolutely love this business, the people around me and the support I get, the new confidence it’s given me and of course the additional income that has become so important to me and my family.
The end of 2024 was amazing for me having booked over £85,000 worth of travel in just one month including a big celebration in the Maldives, a family holiday to Dubai and a couples trip to Marbella. I love nothing more than helping people find their dream vacation.
It’s taken time to build up since starting at the end of 2022 but the help, support and training is all there ready to be used to help everyone and anyone create a successful travel business. I've now booked over £730k worth of travel since I joined and I've never looked back!

What Can You Earn?
What can you actually earn?
The honest answer is: it depends on the time and effort you put in.
This isn't a get-rich-quick scheme and I won't pretend it is.
What I will tell you is that supplier commissions on travel typically run between 10% and 28%.
The host agency then pays you 70-80% of those commissions.
So on a £5,000 family holiday with 15% commission, you're looking at around £525-£600 in your pocket from one booking. Below are the typical commission ranges per booking type:
