The Review

We stayed at Bahia Principe Fantasia in Tenerife in 2021 as a family of four - two adults and two children aged between one and six - and it remains one of our favourite family hotel stays to date. Everything about it was a win. I don't say that lightly.

The Hotel

Bahia Principe Fantasia is unlike any other resort I have stayed in. The whole place is built around a fairy tale theme - and the centrepiece is a genuine white castle right in the heart of the resort. It sounds gimmicky but it is actually stunning, especially at sunset when the light catches it. The whole resort has been designed around stories and symbols of Tenerife island which gives it a character and atmosphere that most generic all inclusives simply don't have.

It is a large, impressive resort that manages to feel lively and buzzy without ever feeling overwhelming. The facilities are excellent throughout and there is an energy to it from the moment you arrive. We met couples there, families with children of all ages, groups of friends - it genuinely caters for everyone brilliantly.

The Entertainment

This is what sets Fantasia apart from every other all inclusive I have experienced and what I think about most when I recommend it.

The shows are top tier. Proper, polished, professional theatre productions every evening - the kind of performance you would pay to see at home. Not the half-hearted resort entertainment you sometimes endure at all inclusives. Real shows with real production values that the whole family genuinely wants to watch. One review I came across mentioned a guest enjoyed the first show so much they paid extra to see a second different show the following night. That tells you everything.

Throughout the day the entertainment continues - the castle at the heart of the resort is used for light shows and performances, there are activities and surprises dotted throughout the hotel and the animation team keeps the energy going from morning until late evening. Fantasia genuinely never feels like there is nothing to do.

The Water Park

My children spent most of the holiday in the water park and would happily have spent all of it there. The resort has seven pools in total including dedicated children's pools with splash zones, water slides, jets and mini waterfalls. There is a shaded area with continuous activities running throughout the day so children are entertained from morning until they physically cannot go on any longer (or until they ship them out)

For families with young children this is where Fantasia truly earns its reputation. Hours of entertainment without needing to leave the resort. The adult only infinity pool is a brilliant contrast for when the parents want a quieter escape while the kids are in club.

The Kids Club

The kids club runs for children aged 4-12 and is genuinely excellent - arts and crafts, cooking workshops, sports, drama, music, movie nights and water based games. It runs from 10am to 6pm daily and is completely free.

For older children the teens club runs until 11pm with music, games consoles, foosball, ping pong and their own DJ. I have never seen a resort cater so thoughtfully for that often forgotten in-between age group.

We had a creche available for our youngest too which was reassuring to know was there, though in reality both children were so content in the pools and water park that neither needed structured activities to keep them happy.

The Food

Really good across the board. The main buffet changes daily so there is always something new to try and the variety is impressive - from international dishes to fresh seafood, something to suit every palate and dietary requirement. The a la carte restaurants are a real highlight too - five restaurants including Asian, Italian, steak and more. The Italian restaurant was particularly memorable. One guest review I read mentioned their child got to make their own pizza there which is exactly the kind of touch that makes Fantasia special. We didn't do that whilst we were there but definitely would next time!

As with the very best all inclusives you never find yourself wishing you could eat somewhere else. The food does its job brilliantly throughout.

The Rooms

Get the sea view room. I cannot recommend this enough. Waking up to that view every morning genuinely adds something to the holiday that you will appreciate every single day. It is the one upgrade I would always suggest for Fantasia.

Bottom Line

Bahia Principe Fantasia is one of those all inclusive resorts that reminds you why all inclusives became so popular in the first place. Exceptional entertainment, a water park the children will never want to leave, genuinely good food across multiple restaurants, a fairy tale castle in the middle of it all and a sea view room that makes every morning feel like a treat. We loved every single moment and I have recommended it many times since.
